Educated as an electrical engineer and computer scientist and having worked in the mainframe computer industry as a programmer and sales rep, Randy became a patent lawyer to strategically assist companies by ensuring a return on investment through protecting their innovations.

Randy's work experience ranges from working in a patent boutique to a national law firm, from a large multinational corporation to a Silicon Valley startup. His experience encompasses all aspects of patents, from writing patent applications to licensing to major litigation.

As a partner at Carr & Ferrell LLP, Randy was co-chairman of the firm's patent group, where he specialized in highly focused strategic intellectual property counseling, planning, and asset management.

Randy’s practice includes the formulation and negotiation of business transactions and licensing strategies, the creation and development of patent portfolios, including preparation and prosecution of patent applications, and patent analysis and enforcement in both right-to-use and litigation contexts.
